Vanessa Hazzard is an internationally-trained bodyworker and healing arts educator. After completing a 960-hour massage therapy program, she began studying Thai Massage in 2007. In 2012, she traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand and continued her studies in Traditional Thai Massage at International Training Massage School (ITM) and Abdominal Massage with Thanachai Chaimongkhon.

Over the past twelve years, Vanessa has practiced therapeutic massage, mentoring new bodyworkers, and instructing workshops and certification courses. Vanessa seamlessly blends her eclectic body of knowledge to create a truly valuable learning experience for her attendees.

In addition to her impressive bodywork credentials, Vanessa is deeply committed to meeting the needs of trauma survivors and those living with mental illness. In 2015 Vanessa Co-authored “The Color of Hope: People of Color Mental Health Narratives” with Mental Health Clinician Iresha Picot. This work is a tapestry of essays, poems and interviews from Blacks, Asians and Latinos living with or affected by a loved one with mental illness to bring “the story behind the statistics” of people whose voices are rarely heard due to shame and stigma. Also a Yoga instructor, Vanessa has trained in Yoga for Trauma and Addiction with the Transformation Yoga Project. Her goal, by developing/facilitating trauma-informed courses, is to provide the space and tools necessary for participants to develop mindfulness, discipline and strength from the inside out. Vanessa is a volunteer at the Nationalities Services Center, providing chair massage and lymphatic drainage to refugees, immigrants and staff.

Come by yourself or with a friend! Thai massage is applied fully clothed on a mat, so dress comfortably.

4 Day Thai Massage Certification Intensive

Thai Massage, (also known as Nuad Borarn, Thai Yoga Massage, and Thai Bodywork), seamlessly blends massage therapy, compression, stretching, assisted yoga, and other manual therapies. This ancient bodywork is believed to have its origins in Ayurveda, Theraveda Buddhism, and shares similarities with Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of the branches of Traditional Thai Medicine.

The Thai Yoga Massage practitioner uses hands, feet, elbows, and knees to apply therapeutic techniques. The sessions are performed fully clothed on a mat on the floor. In this course, you will learn to apply Thai massage techniques in the supine, prone, side-lying and seated positions. You will learn a routine that will last 90 minutes to 2-hours in length, along with specific variations for height, size, and injuries. This class is ideal for those massage therapists, yoga practitioners, energy workers, or those with a background in anatomy. A manual is included in the cost.

This class is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) for 32 CE hours. Approved Provider # 451899-12.

$425, $375 if paid in full by October 10

Skill Building for Bodyworkers Series: Lymphatic System
